The courses are focused on providing postgraduate education for the whole team, from GP through to practice nurses, diabetes specialist nurses, endocrine nurses, nurse educators, pharmacists, podiatrists, dietitians etc.
The diabetes diploma is based on the IDF''s International Curriculum for Diabetes Health Professional Education.
Online, 1 year course, September or March start with two days introductory lectures.

Course Title: Chronic condition management: Diabetes
Diabetes has reached world wide epidemic proportions and is fast becoming the defining disease of the 21st century. It also represents a major challenge to health organizations in chronic disease management. This module provides the basis for health care professionals to deliver high quality multidisciplinary diabetes care.
The module is available as a stand alone module or as part of the MSc (Chronic disease management) programme. The home department of the module is theSchoolofHealth Science. Its development is a joint endeavour between theSchoolofHealth Scienceand theSchoolofMedicine. It is a 30 credit module which will entitle successful participants to a “certificate” and which can be put towards a further qualification.

This is a University of Leicester Programme facilitated by the Leicester Diabetes Centre, which now forms one of the largest facilities in Europe for conducting first class clinical research and teaching in diabetes. In 2018, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is due to award the Leicester Diabetes Centre the titles of ‘IDF Centre of Education’ and ‘IDF Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Care’.
Our qualifications address the learning needs of healthcare professionals from around the world, encourage multidisciplinary team working and give clinicians the knowledge and expertise necessary to meet the healthcare needs of people with diabetes.
We offer both Campus Based and Distance Learning study options.
